The New York Times is not afraid of Donald Trump or his lawyers.

Twitter users are praising the publication for standing its ground after Trump threatened to file a lawsuit for his “damaged reputation.”

Twitter may be getting ready to make some big changes to its app.

The company is now testing a change that replaces the Moments tab with a feature called “Explore,” Twitter confirmed to Mashable

With the change, Twitter is opting to put “content discovery” front and center in the app, rather than Moments alone. Instead, the new Explore tab, which for now is appearing only in Twitter’s iOS and Android apps, highlights trending topics and search alongside Moments.

“As part of our continued efforts to make it easier to find what’s happening on Twitter, we’re testing a new tab for content discovery,” the company said in a statement.  Read more…

A prominent Indigenous rights activist and politician has officially become Australia’s first female Aboriginal MP, giving her maiden speech in the House of Representatives Wednesday.

Delivering her first speech as Labor member for the New South Wales seat of Barton in Sydney’s south, Burney donned a kangaroo skin cloak featuring her clan totem, the goanna, and her personal totem, the white cockatoo, which she described as “the noisy messenger bird.”  Read more…

The heat wave currently baking the midsection of the country has turned portions of at least 21 states into a sauna, with unusually high humidity with air temperatures running up to 20 degrees Fahrenheit above average.

On Wednesday, as high temperatures reached the mid-90s all the way into southern Canada, dew points that exceeded an astonishing 80 degrees Fahrenheit sent the heat index – which measures how hot it feels to the human body – soaring into the 100s.

On Thursday, similar conditions are predicted for much of the corn belt, where evapotranspiration from corn fields is boosting the amount of moisture in the air. This phenomenon, known as “corn sweat,” is helping to make the heat more unbearable in states like Iowa and Minnesota, in particular. Read more…
