The Oculus Rift is coming in early 2016, but if you want it, you should expect to pay.

Oculus VR co-founder Nate Mitchell was fairly tight-lipped about the final retail price of the highly anticipated virtual-reality headset when he spoke to reporter Josh Constine at TechCrunch Disrupt on Wednesday, but he dropped a few hints and clarified what users would need to use the device.

“Overall, when we look at VR, we see two product categories,” Mitchell explained. “The high-fidelity VR experiences that we’re targeting with the Rift, and on the lower end, the mobile side, the product we’re doing in collaboration with Samsung, the Gear VR.” (The Gear VR, which requires either a Galaxy Note or Galaxy S6 smartphone, costs $200.)
